Mo Ibrahim Leadership Fellowships Program

Do you want to receive outstanding leadership skills and mentorship? The Ibrahim Leadership Fellowship is here for you. This Fellowship was established in 2011 and it is saddled with the responsibility of identifying and mentoring future generation of outstanding leaders in African. The program is a proof of Mo Ibrahim Leadership Fellowships’ commitment in making sure that Africa as a continent is lifted from the shackles of bad leadership.

The Fellowship awards scholarships to three Fellows yearly. These lucky Fellows have an opportunity to work in the executive offices of the Afrcan Development Bank (AfDB) in Abidjan, UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) in Addis Ababa, and the International Trade Center (ITC) in Geneva. They are given a stipend of $100,000.

Interestingly, during their 12-month programs, Fellows acquire both leadership and technical skills; and they give direct contribution to research and policy design. The most outstanding aspect of the program is that it offers the opportunity to be directly mentored by the leaders of the host organisations.  It also offer Fellows the opportunity of becoming members of the Now Generation Network (NGN) and with this they continue to inject their acquired skills and insights into the veins of a better Africa and even the world at large. With all these opportunities, it is no doubt that this Fellowship is living in the words of Natasha Kimani of Kenya when he said that: “we need to change the way we speak about young people and ensure that the people who need to be at the table are at the table. We need to move from policy commitments to actually investing in young people”.
